A list of BIE FAQs

Is the plan adjusting automatically according to the number of images that were improved?

No, it doesn’t change automatically. You can manually upgrade or downgrade based on your need.

Is your app doing bulk adjusting for non-square? a rectangle? a costume size?

Yes, you can specify a rectangular image ratio. The option is called “canvas resize” under “resize” category in the app.

What would be the approximate time that it would take to adjust the images of the first batch?

It takes about 1 to 2 seconds per edit. It varies depends on what you are trying to do. 25,000 images could take 7 hours.

Is adjusting the images with your app, will change their image quality or resolution?

Normally it should not. But certain operation can reduce the image quality such as resize an image from 1000x1000 to 100x100. 100x100px is too small and it doesn’t have enough pixels.

What is the average improvement that could be expected improving the images using your app?

If you have a lot of PNG files, change them into JPG can reduce 90% of the sizes. Minimize JPG file varies between 15% and 35%.

The result is based on our average data. The result may vary and depends on different conditions.

What is the difference between image "Minimize" and "Product Image Optimize", as described in the plans?

Minimize is a function for reducing file sizes. There are 3 type of images this app can work on product images, Collection images and theme images. “Product Image Optimize” means that plan can edit Product images.

Why my photos are still too large after the optimization?

In that case, you need to reduce the image resolution.

For example, if the images are 2000x2000, if you resize it to 1000x1000, the file size should be about 25% of the original size.

There is a couple of things to keep in mind.

  1. When you test with Google speed test, it is usually the home page being tested. To test the effect on product page, please make sure a URL of a particular product page is submitted for testing.
  2. Please test a product before the resize, then resize that product’s image using our app, and do a speed test after the resize.

Can I bulk optimize my product description images?

If the product description images are not part of the themes, then we do not support to optimize it at the moment.

For example: the images in the blog and inside of the product description field.

We currently support all the product images, collection images, and all the images belong to themes.

Can I bulk optimize photos from my homepage?

Usually not.

Banner images are usually stored in Shopify Admin Files which 3rd party apps are not given the access to that folder.

After a task has run is possible to just revert specific photos?

No, that is not supported. Revert will revert all images in that job.
