A list of MCC FAQs

How the app works?

Our App will auto convert the displayed prices into visitors’ local currencies based on the latest currency rate, and only the displayed prices, not the real price.

Shopify currently doesn’t allow any app to access the checkout page for a security reason. And Shopify only allows the customer checkout with the Store Base Currency at the moment.

Since Shopify doesn't allow any app to access the checkout page, the app won't be running when it comes to the checkout process.  When customers go to the checkout, they then are presented with your Store Base Currency. And your Store Base Currency will be taken from their account / credit card.

Whether customers paying an additional fee depends on the customers' bank and credit card policy.

It is also feasible if you would like to show your Store Base Currency by default. We have an option for it.

Multiple Currency Converter is configured with the fixed rate, why the customer still paying at the real-time currency rate?

According to Shopify standard, all orders will be taken and processed in your shop base currency.
The manual set exchange rate only affects the converted displayed prices. During the checkout, all the orders will be processed in your shop base currency with the real-time exchange.

Is it possible to reduce the number of currencies on the drop down?

Yes. Just input the currencies you want to support in the field shown in the screenshot below. In this case, the currency options on the drop down list are limited to USD and CAD. All currencies are shown when leaving it blank.

How to set up the fixed-rate?

Our Multi Currency Converter app has a fixed-rate feature to set the currency rate manually. It doesn’t change the real product price. It only changes the display price.

You can set up the fixed currency rate for all currencies EXCEPT:

  • USD
  • your store base currency

Why I see an error message in Chrome console after applying the quick load script?

The error message is from our MCC app. This note is a regular message showing that you have applied the quick load feature and it is running successfully. Unfortunately, the message is showing with a wrong color-code. Please ignore it. Sorry for the confusion.

Can I update my store base currency?

This change will require an update to your Store Base Currency and we don't have permission to update it.

You can find the setting in your Shopify Admin > Settings > General

This is a Shopify setting and it will change your base currency of the entire store. We would recommend contacting a Shopify Guru to avoid any unexpected result. They are the best person to help.

In case of need, here is the contact of Shopify Guru team: https://help.shopify.com/. You can find the link at the bottom of the page.

How to let Google shows prices in my Shop Base Currency?

Please display your Store Base Currency as the default option for your store. Let me know if it works.

It will take Google a couple of days to get all new information for the search result.

Can I have my Store Base Currency to be our default currency in the drop-down?

Our app has an auto-conversion feature with geotargeting. For your customers, their default currency will be their local currency.

Yes, you can have the control of the default currency. The only option at the moment is your Store Base Currency. You can turn ON/OFF the option in the app.

When it is enabled, the currency drop-down displays your shop base currency by default, unless website visitors select other ones from the dropdown manually.

We attached a screenshot for your reference.

Is it possible to display the default currency without the currency code, but all of the other currencies with it?

Yes.

You can achieve this by updating your "CURRENCY FORMATTING" in the Shopify Admin settings. You can find it under Settings > General > Standards and formats > Currency > Change formatting.

You can remove the currency symbol from "HTML with currency" field, and then the currency of your Store Base Currency won't be showing on your website.

In the app, keep the first option of the "Display Format" selected, so that all of the other currencies will have the currency code.

We attached two screenshots for your reference.

What is the initial setup required?

The Multi Currency Converter requires an initial set up. You can find the instruction in the app.

Then, please turn on the app when the setup is completed.

I attached a screenshot for your reference. The screenshot is taken from our test store so that it may look a bit different on your end. The instruction will be different based on your Store Base Currency. Please follow the instruction shown on your end.
